about marc

I've been a photographer for 29 years and a wedding photographer for 26 years. I feel so incredibly honored that over 1000 couples have chosen me to do what I love best. Being a part of an amazing wedding day, filled with so much love and laughter, makes me appreciate how lucky I am to be a wedding photographer here in New Orleans.  My approach to wedding photography is imbued with a sense of creative storytelling.  I'm a huge fan of Ansel Adams and his concept of previsualization. With 26 years of experience, I'm able to see the image before I press the shutter button, and I know that when I do, it's going to be exactly as I saw it in my head.  That allows me to focus on being in the moment with every couple I shoot, while creating images that are full of emotion and beauty.

That said, I’m not JUST a wedding photographer, as many of my peers are. I have always maintained a full portrait studio, and I’ve consistently simultaneously shot adventure travel imagery both for stock agencies and as an assignment-based documentary photographer. I’ve been the official photographer for expeditions to Mount Everest and to floating fishing villages in Vietnam. I’ve been hired twice by Brad Pitt to document his celebrity-filled “Night to Make it Right”, called “The Oscars of the South”, and I’ve shot tons of music’s biggest stars on assignment for various publications. All of these experiences require a keen sense of composition, lighting, and color, and most require the ability to quickly get the “perfect” shot for my clients. This experience is transferred to helping me create wedding photography that tells a story and does it with a sense of fine art and love.

When I’m not shooting weddings, I’m usually doing one of the following:

shooting portraits, or for commercial clients or adventure travel stock imagery (marcpagani.com), or shooting boudoir images (nolaboudoir.com), climbing rocks and mountains, building drums at 76drums.com, traveling to far-flung destinations, riding one of my modern or vintage Italian bikes, spending time with my 2 cute-ass dogs, spending time with friends, listening to music in the White Room, and hosting parties.
